FATEB
The Evangelical Seminary at Bangui is located in the heart of Africa.
It is an independent institution serving all of French-speaking
Africa. The full name is Faculté de Théologie Evangélique
de Bangui (FATEB). Located in the capital city of the Central African
Republic, the Seminary is ideally located to accommodate students
from countries like Gabon, Madagascar, Reunion Island, Cameroon
and the Republic of Congo.
Sub-Saharan
Africa boasts the fastest growing churches in the world. This kind
of expansion brings its own problems. One of them is lack of biblical
and ethical foundations. There is a danger of superficiality and
of returning to national religions. The AIDS pandemic has reached
desperate proportions in Africa. There is a dire need for Christians
to be equipped by their leaders. Leaders need to be trained in preaching,
teaching, counseling and pastoral care. FATEB provides such training,
with its stress on solid biblical knowledge and theological acumen.
The Huguenot Fellowship supports FATEB because we believe theological
education is a lifeline for Africa's new churches, which in turn
are the key to the survival of the continent.
