Farel Reformed Theological Seminary is a faculty of theology offering a program of study in the French language leading to a government-accredited Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Theology. Based on Scripture and its summary in the historic Reformed confessions, Farel Seminary was established to provide spiritual personal, and professional training to French and English-speaking students. Although Farel Seminary is proud to have alumni serving in other parts of North America and in the rest of the world, it puts special focus on those seeking to serve in the majority French-speaking Canadian province of Quebec.
Importantly, Farel Seminary recently signed an administrative agreement with a Montreal-based theological university, the Institut de formation théologique de Montréal which allows Farel to offer its students fully-accredited degrees and access to government loans and bursaries.
Farel Seminary is also a school for laity who wish to broaden their understanding of Scripture and a Christian and Reformed world and life view. Addressing itself predominately in the French language, Farel offers courses to regular and part-time students or auditors in the context of a program leading to a Certificate of Christian Studies.
Although it does not belong to any particular denomination, Farel Seminary works closely with Churches and Christian organizations throughout Quebec. It was founded in 1978 by the Reformed Evangelical Alliance, an association who recognized the need for a cooperative Reformed work in Quebec.
