Dear Friends,
Since the real new millennium begins this year, the Huguenot Fellowship
is happy to introduce its new look. We hope you like our more colorful
format. Nothing essential has changed, though, in the goals and mission
of this work. We continue to look for ways to support the Reformed Seminary
in Aix-en-Provence, as well as certain adjunct ministries.
We do have a couple announcements to make. First, the Trustees have unanimously
elected Dr Peter Lillback to be Vice President. Senior Minister at Proclamation
Presbyterian Church in Bryn Mawr, Peter has been tireless in his efforts
to move us forward. Second, we now have a web site! Be sure to visit.
It can be found at www.huguenotfellowship.org. Thanks to the excellent
work of a friend of the Fellowship it is particularly well constructed,
including music, literature about the Huguenots, and, of course, a way
the visitor can become involved. Third, we have a new brochure. Most of
you on our regular mailing list have received it already. If you would
like to have more, to give to friends, just let us know.
Third, and most striking, we have launched the James Montgomery Boice
Chair of Practical Theology to be inaugurated as soon as the funds are
in. To be specific, we will need $750,000 in order to generate an income
that will pay the appropriate professors salary and the employers
taxes. So far, that is, since October, 2000, we have raised 10% of the
amount. That is most encouraging, but we have a long way to go. We went
public with this project on Reformation Day, in a marvelous service at
the Proclamation Church. Pierre Berthoud, Principal of the Seminary, preached,
the Genevans sang, and Elizabeth Boice, James and Lindas daughter,
was there to receive the dedication. Now, our Development Committee is
hard at work figuring out ways to complete the funding of the Chair. If
you would like to contribute to this fund, be sure to earmark the memo
on your check Boice Chair. We are hoping to fund it without
diminishing our regular, annual obligations. Be generous! And many thanks!
Very Truly Yours,

William Edgar, President
