Dear Friends,
Save the date.
Thats right. Our exciting news is that the Huguenot Fellowship is
sponsoring a trip to Aix-en-Provence in order to celebrate the 30th anniversary
of the Reformed Seminary. And we would like you to join us. We
leave from JFK airport outside of New York City on Monday, May 10th, 2004.
And we return home Monday the 17th.
You will be receiving a full brochure about the trip shortly. It will
give you the basic itinerary, the cost, and some of the highlights of
the trip. We will hear Dr Joseph (Skip) Ryan give the Second
Annual Boice Lecture, on the topic, Trends in the American Evangelical
Church. We will visit the remarkable musée du désert
in the Cévennes Mountains, dedicated to the memory of the Huguenots
during the time of persecution. We will visit sites of different Christian
ministries in Marseille, including the Arts Group. We will meet students
and graduates of the Reformed Seminary. We will attend the worship service
at the Evangelical Reformed Church in Aix. We will go shopping on the
Cours Mirabeau, and the outdoor market of Aix. There will be special lectures
on the history of the Evangelical faith in France and Europe.
But the major focus of the trip will be at the Reformed Seminary, Saturday,
May 15th. Not only will they celebrate their 30 years of ministry, but
we will be handing over a portion of the funds we are raising for the
establishment of the James Montgomery Boice Chair of Practical Theology.
Mrs Boice (Linda) will be with us to help mark the moment. As you know,
we launched this project almost three years ago. The Seminary will say
a sad goodbye to the present Professor of Practical Theology, Dr Harold
Kallemeyn, who will work full time for the Friends of Africa Ministry.
And so they hope to name his successor, who would be sponsored by this
fund. And you will be there to witness the changing of the guard.
We trust you are able to continue to give generously to the regular Seminary
project budget for 2003, while at the same time making a special effort
toward the Boice Chair. Be on the lookout for the brochure. And thanks!
Very Truly Yours,

William Edgar, President
